Introducing EPS, the External Plugin System

EPS (External Plugin System) is a plugin hosting system designed to dramatically reduce DAW project loading times and expand plugin hosting capabilities. It allows you to load instruments and effects on a separate server app (on the same or other computer) and keep them running even when switching or closing DAW projects.

Even when running EPS on the same computer as your DAW, it can dramatically increase the number of instruments and effects you can run by hosting them outside the DAW process, without adding to the DAW's processing load. This is especially useful for large orchestral templates, samplers like Kontakt, and complex production setups.

EPS also supports loading plugins on demand, provides plugin crash isolation for improved stability, and integrates seamlessly with MP Controller for automatic parameter mapping and hands-on control.

Two new plugins: MP Mix Placement and Controller EQ-01

We are releasing two plugins designed around the MP Controller. MP Mix Placement is a 14-band placement filter bank for deciding where each part sits in a mix, by frequency, depth, width and character. It is free for all MP Controller owners. Controller EQ-01 is a mixing and mastering EQ that recreates the curves and phase shift of a classic analog unit, with L/R and M/S modes and a choice of minimum or exact phase.

New Cubase/Nuendo Control Surface released

We are happy to announce important updates for the MP Controller Cubase/Nuendo Control Surface. It requires Cubase 15.0.20 or later and Nuendo 14.0.30 or later.

What's new

• The Mixer now shows the track color under the fader.
• Encoders show the value and unit (when a plugin sends units) at the center of the encoder.
• Control the selected track's Send Volume Levels from the Mixer page.
• Pages 4 through 16 automatically map and color encoders for plugins and Cubase native devices.
• Continuous parameters are mapped to encoders, while switches and choices are mapped to the buttons. Press a button to turn a switch on or off.
• Improved coloring of encoders according to parameter name and group.
• The old Insert FX and Instrument pages 4 and 5 are replaced by these new plugin pages.

MP MIDI follows what you do in Cubase

• Move a parameter of a plugin or device with the mouse, and MP MIDI jumps to the page holding it and flashes that encoder or button, so you can see where it is linked.
• Click a plugin's window in Cubase, and MP MIDI switches to that plugin, even if its track isn't selected.
• MP MIDI shows the plugin's name at the top and the name of the track it's on.
• Pages are remembered per plugin: when you come back to a plugin, you're on the page you last used for it.

New Control Surface buttons

• Follow Device: turn off to keep controlling the same plugin while you select other plugins in Cubase/Nuendo.
• Follow Param: turn off if you don't want MP MIDI to jump pages when you control parameters with the mouse.
• Follow Track Selection (Mixer page only):
  • On: selecting a track in Cubase takes the Mixer to that track and selects it.
  • Off: the Mixer stays exactly as you left it.

Custom mapping for devices and plugins

You can create custom mappings and save them as presets. Each time a device is selected in Cubase, the Control Surface loads that preset and syncs with Cubase/Nuendo. The preset name is set automatically when you are on pages 4 to 16 (the plugin control pages) and click Save.

The Logic Control Surface now maps the parameters of plugins automatically upon loading the plugin. If a mapping preset exists, the preset is prioritized. Mapped parameters can be edited and saved as presets.

The MP MIDI Controller touchscreen pre-production unit is ready

Software update. The MP Host window opens directly in the MP Controller’s screen when opened from the DAW (without the need to press the Control & Display button). The MP Host interface has been adjusted to fit the touchscreen functionality.

Manufacturing and shipping. Due to the recent upgrades and changes on the controller, shipping will begin in April 2021.

A new look and preorders

The new enclosure of MP MIDI Controller is ready and well tested. New prototype made of high-quality wood with custom-made encoder cases and knobs. The controller hardware unit dimensions are: Width 403 mm, Length 255 mm, Back height 102 mm, Front height 35 mm.

New software features have been implemented and tested on major DAWs.

Preorders will take place in October 2020. We will send out an email to all that have contacted us and a web form to place your pre-orders. Payment information will follow. Stay tuned.
